Living On The Edge
May 17, 2008 |
To live on the edge is simply to except the mystery of each new day.
It is to begin again the seeking for God as if it were the first day.
It is to leave behind all that is past.
On this journey we can only keep moving forward.
It is to live contantly the present moment before you.
In the desert we are never given the luxury of what is to come next.
It is like a terrible, long journey, with only one page of the map to look at each time.
We are told to go from point to point and follow in obedience.
It is to take nothing for the journey apart from ourselves.
All we can offer is our availability to God.
It is to live simply only with enough for the short time ahead.
It is to abandon ourselves to God trusting all that is needed will be only given in the moment it is needed.
We gather a few companions and vow to make this journey alone but also together.
It is to seek the presence of God in each other even if we do not fully understand each journey being made.
It is to seek to love and teach each other.
All the time with the knowledge of the dying that is to come.
It is to delight in the presence of God as if a curtain has come up that separates us from Him.
When the curtain comes down and we are left with His absence it is to still love God and call out to Him.
At the moment of death it is to let go not knowing how we will get to our destination.
It is however in blind faith in Gods mercy and compassion to know the destination of our final journey.
To live on the edge in this life is to pray for and seek out all those who are also on the edge as the lost sheep of God.
The poor, rejected, outcasts, mentally ill, sick, dying and so the list could ever go on.
Our lives and mission contain a message of hope for all these people.
To live on the edge is to be closer to God than we can see, as it is to live in the heart of God and the church.
Brother Richard- Bruno.
