Portugal’s Bishops Silent on New Bill Authorizing Abortion.

Portugal’s National Assembly approved a bill authorizing abortion and the nation’s president, a “practicing Catholic” who has the constitutional powers to veto the legislation signed it into law. The country’s bishops remain silent throughout and did not appeal to the president to veto the law.
